Hey, good morning!
I know, I know. It’s Monday… but hey stay positive! At least we have the weekends to recharge and reload, connect with ourselves, with family and friends right?
I hope you had a chance to do all that, or at least some of it.
Personally, I had a pretty good one. I have reconnected with good friends and family. I have even enjoyed a few really good cocktails and some amazing food… yes that is right!
I do like my drinks once in a while and I admit that if I am going to ‘’cheat’’ I cheat with something I love. It is okay to do this sometimes.
With things in the food chain I mean, not your spouse ok?!
How about you? Do you deprive yourself from foods that you like, thinking is the right thing to do?
Allow me to share a ‘’secret’’
Never excluded any food that I love from my diet. In fact, I don’t believe in strict diets as a long lasting way of living. I always listen to my body, pay attention to how I feel and fuel accordingly. If I overdo it, I make sure to use all the energy one way or another.
Depriving yourself from foods you love, will make you crave them more and more. That feeling will amplify and grow so much that one day you will not be able to control it anymore. You will end up feeling like a maniac around food.
Please trust me when I tell you, one portion will not be enough. Not sure if three will do either.
I guess what I am trying to say is, when struggling to keep up with your choices, it may not be the best option. If you can’t stick with it, is not for you.
You need something that you can sustain and be consistent with over time, without much difficulty. It is the only way to make it last. That is how you get results. Consistency over time.
Even if you are trying to lose weight, you can still have a cheat meal (hey, just to be clear, I did not say a cheat day) and just enjoy your favorite food. It is always best to have a small amount at the right time, rather than a dozen when you are not in control.
I am your proof that you can eat anything you like, as long as you keep it together, don’t overdo it and train with regularity.
To sum it up, I believe that we have been equipped with the best tools to go through this life. Our body is an amazing living creature and has the most astonishing survival mechanisms.
New born babies start to cry when they are hungry. As soon as they are full, they lose interest in the food and don’t want it anymore. Natural instinct.
We all have it. If only we would remember how to listen to it, with all that external stressful noise in our daily lives…
Think about this! When it is too cold, we go and cover ourselves. You don’t consciously need to keep track of the temperature outside. Your body does that for you.
When we are tired, we go to sleep. You are hungry your body tells you, go and grab some food. Your hydration levels drop, you feel thirsty ( go for water not wine please).
There will always be a crazy boss, a busy schedule, a stressful life. This does not mean that we should turn to excessive food or alcohol, because of it. We can try to crack down all that stressful noise and listen to what our body really needs.
It may be some rest. Or maybe time on your own. Maybe a walk in the park. Maybe a big hug and a good friend. You decide.
No need to eat just because is lunch time if you are not hungry yet. No need to eat on the clock five meals a day, if your body does not need it.
I have a proposal. Let’s all try to train ourselves and pay attention to the little hints our body is telling us every day. And then let’s see what happens next!
As always, thank you SO much for reading.
Have a beautiful day, and hope to catch up with you in those comments!
